Dave and Bevan were the only idiots venturing into the water this morning at 6.30am. Linda had already had a dip as had Di. I was not keen but bowed to peer pressure from Di who swims without any protection.
My ankles screamed their silent protest, and for the first 80 metres I fought the urge to turn back. Past the cones, the body had acclimatised to the 14C temperature. Apart from almost collecting the anchor chain of a moored yacht on the way out, there were no other mishaps. I did observe some salp like strands in the water that I feared were stingers but fortunately NOT. At the post, the outside air temp was quite pleasant as was the morning and water visibility is about 95%. The sandy sea floor could be seen without difficulty.
Bevan and I headed across to the island and in to shore. Just a quick one today. Taking the wetsuit off in the shallows reveals how cold the water really is and the cold cement on the feet still has the sensation of walking on shards of glass. Nice!
Bob was sporting an awesome hat to rival that of Chris, Dave and Bevan.
Idiots…
