Six lined up for this morning’s start with Sutho officiating. Stephen shot out first – jumping the gun some may argue – followed by Bevan, Dave, David and Chris. Linda was given a 30sec headstart. Ken delivered the bad news to Bevan – water temp of 20C, which signalled the end of the wetsuit season. The water was calm and warm after a few dozen strokes and heavy panting. Stephen was first to the post followed by Bevan, David, and Linda. Dave was playing tail-end Charlie with Chris who was puffed out and Dave was running on empty having not slept the night before to ensure arrival at the beach at the designated time. We headed around Gwen, which has returned from whereabouts unknown, then back across to the island. Dave will be hoping to get more than 4 hours sleep and give Stephen and Bevan a run for their money… when he shows up again…
On a separate note, Dave contacted the EPA to report the reappearance of the algae that choked the bay for six months last year. Mosman Council will be taking samples to ensure the algae is non-toxic. When that happens the response from council and Government agencies will likely be the same as last year – nothing will be done and it will be written off as a natural occurrence.
It was a short return to form……I have now subsequently caught a heavy cold…and dare I suggest it came from a swim without a wetsuit ? Hey bevan…you O.K. or is it just me with the head cold now !
See you all next week…after a long weekend in Tasmania…where the forecast is for wind & rain…perfect weather for a game of golf and maybe a dunk in the Tasman Sea!
And the kids aren’t to blame? I felt like wearing a wetsuit this morning but chose to stay in bed instead… You don’t have to cave to peer pressure Stephen. Wear a wetsuit if it suits you… we promise not to laugh too hard 😉
