Last day of Spring idiots 2

Woke up at 10 to 6 this morning and the first words to escape my lips weren’t ones of joy. Dashed out the door expecting the traffic to be heavy but made a surprisingly quick trip to arrive at Balmoral by 6.28am. Dave, Chris, and Bevan were just arriving having completed their punishing routine on the steps.

Raced across the road to spy three idiots nearing the cones. The time – 6.31am… The one-minute later idiots agreed upon the Belle to the Post route.

Donning the flippers, I set off in pursuit giving up on the urge to catch them around the 140m mark. At Belle, Dave pointed to the one-minute before idiots at the Cat. Judy, the new Sgt Slaughter, had set a challenging route for the returning idiots.

The team were back together again at the Post and it was great to see Matt, Richard and Stephen again (and Judy of course) all in fine spirits. The trip back to the beach via the island was uneventful except for Dave F. swimming a sailing buoy back…

The one minute before idiots swam about 1.4kms whilst the one-minute after idiots swam about 1km.

So for the record, the idiots swimming today beyond the cones were Judy, Matt, Richard, Bevan, Stephen, Chris, Dave F. and myself, to the cones were John and Bob, and way before the cones were Malcolm, Chris, Ruth, Janet, Linda, Dennis, Paul…

The trip to the cones and back for John was accomplished in record time and we (Judy, Bob, Chris, Bevan, and I) were blessed by John’s presence and wit at coffee time 🙂 What a wonderful way to start the last day of Spring.

I wonder how the first day of Summer will compare?!

About Dave

Dave has been an idiot for longer than he can remember. However, his Real Idiot status was confirmed about 20 years ago when Linda and Bevan coaxed him out to the post. Developer and administrator of this website as well as reporter, photographer, and chief spell-checker. Thankfully, other idiots contribute to the site to keep it interesting...

What a joy it was to return for the morning swim but the welcome gift back from Judy ….see that Catamaran in the distance…..was not what we were hoping for. One of the toughest swims we’ve had for some time & we won’t forget Judy! That said, really wonderful to see the great bunch of idiots we swim with…

Spring is great but Summer is even better!!!

And big it up for Dave for swimming back carrying the small matter of an anchor and marker buoy plus chain and rope. Not bad!
