I was feeling less than enthusiastic when Dave and Bevan set the course for Around The Bay this morning. Bevan told me yesterday that there were plenty of Jimbles about, and then I’m thinking – What a great way to find them!
So off I went having been given a healthy head start by Dave, Chris, and Bevan. Around the dirty cone, down to the far cone, head out through the moorings to Belle, around the stern or bow (depending on which way the wind was blowing), and stop at the post. Success! No Jimbles sighted thus far.
Next directive – head to the island and follow it to the beach. Great!, I’m thinking nervously as that’s where I saw the Jimbles last Friday… gulp.
Across to the island, in close over the seaweed and sea urchins, hugged the rocks to the beach and a huge sigh of relief that nary a Jimble was seen or felt. AWESOME!
Also enjoying the warm 18C water this morning were Judy, Rod, Ann, Paul, Louise, Janice, Di, Linda, Mike, Dennis, Bruce, Janet, Ruth, Meg, Paul, Sally, Vic and Rosemary, Robyn, and running on the beach, Bob.
With the water temp hitting 18C, I wonder if the BJs, Matt, Sutho, and Rob will come out of hibernation… unless of course they are out of the country…
Yes indeedy. I have been swimming every weekend with my new wetsuit and loving it. Bloody jimbles are still out however, my also new goggles mean I can see them at 50 paces. They do lurk about a foot below the surface so easy to avoid. My wetsuit will not be coming off until as RBJ said, the water temp starts with a 2.I still think Ken is using his date for the temperature reading, as it ain’t 18 degrees off shore !
I thought it was warm yesterday Sutho but maybe that was because I was swimming so fast to avoid any sightings or surprise attacks…
Dear Fellow Idiots – our hibernation continues & we patiently wait for the water temp. to reach a gentleman’s temperature, a ‘2’ at the start of the number is desirable. We feel the jumbles will be gone by then & so will the need for the wetsuits. (Note, SBJ & my good-self have been doing bit of weekend surfing just to ensure we don’t forget what cool water is all about).
Can’t wait to start the swimming again so if you could organise some warm currents please…..
Where’s the fun in that Richard – 2.? Why don’t you guys pop down on Friday for an around the island swim? Good to hear that you guys are alive and well 🙂
